I posted this over at PES, too so if you saw it there you can ignore this.

I have been playing through this character for a couple of months now and it has played fine.

Now when I drop a book I get a CTD. I haven't changed or added anything. I am running a lot of mods, but, as I said, the game ran fine up until a couple of weeks ago when I began noticing the book problem.

The very first time I pick up a book and later drop it or put it in a container it's fine. The next time I handle the book to move it or read it again the game crashes when I put it down.

For a while, as long as I put it back in a container I could still access it. But now that is crashing as well. The books are the only thing it is happening with; everything else I can pick up move around and drop with no problem.

I am using Book Rotate and Book Jackets. I am not using any other positioning mods. Earlier today I unistalled both book mods and tried to run the game. The save said the Book Rotate master file was missing and crashed. I reloaded it. The game opened fine, but I have the same problem with picking up then dropping the book.

Each time I took out the mods then put them back (from freshly unzipped files) I ran my game through TesTool and recreated the Merged files. I also ran it through the Levelled List Resequencer before trying to reload the save.

Anything else I might be able to try? Or any way I can remove the Book Rotate dependencey?

I don't know anything about the Book Jackets mod, but I run Book Rotate and I've never had a problem with crashes so I don't think it's the Book Rotate mod. If you are running another mod that is affecting any book, maybe it's affecting all the books in some way that I couldn't possibly explain. Without knowing what other mods you're using it's impossible to know.

Well, the thing is, the problem developed mid-game. It worked fine before and I didn't add anything. I guess I could have finally hit the activator for a mod that hadn't kicked in yet. I've had another annoying problem going on about as long - every time I enter Master Aryon's chambers I end up somewhere beneath the Ashlands in the dark and when I exit I end up outside Tel Ahrun. I have to use the CS to re-set the teleports each time.

I did notice what appeared to be a flying saucer in the distance and tracked it down to The Dwemeri Secret. I disabled that mod and managed to get into Aryon's chamber without the CS. but it hasn't fixed the book problem.

Well, I often end up having saving glitches, even part of the way through the game.

As regards the teleports, I have an adjustments mod which is always last in the load list, with things like trees moved, spelling corrected and suchlike. It allows me to make minor changes to Vvardenfell, without necessarily affecting anything else.

I have one of those, too. That's where I keep saving the changes.

This mod you two are discussing...are you finding these things, loading it in the CS, making the fix, saving it, and then continuing to use the mod?

Well, obviously. It's just a blank ESP loaded last with minor adjustments that I've noticed need making, such as slightly lowering a door or deleting a tree etc.

If you use a mod, then change it, then save it without removing it from your save game before changing it, then you have what is known as a "dirty save". Dirty saves will muck things up terribly.

I'm wondering if this might be the culprit in Wolfhawk's book problem.

Oh well. I don't use the same mod in the same game. If I make alterations to it, I do a "latest" copy and then carry on using the previous version with the current character. When I do a later character, I use the "latest" copy instead.

Possibly. I thought the way to "clean" it was to go into an unmodded cell, save your game there then exit the game. Open the CS, make your changes, save the mod, exit the CS and start the game again?

Or do I have it all bass ackwards and inside out?
