Author description
| Quote: | Some new items added to game
1. 2 new gem types, Saphires and Amber
2. 4 Enchantable gems types. 4 Light gem.
3. 3 new paper types and adjustment on game paper weight.
4. A new shop in Balmora (behind Tyravel Manor) called "Gem Dealer", sells the gems and some other nice things.
5. Adjustment of gold that (Should) be given out on people. Seems to me that all the bandits are broke.
6. Adds tresure to some monsters.
7. New gold - ICONS only.
8. Nice Dagger.
9. Small adventure of a very fine lost gem. Low level and good for a starter to get money.
This MOD should be balanced and was made to address the lack of some of the gems and enchantable items as well as selling things. See readme for info. |
Concept - Very Good
As stated in the description this mod adds several new items, a low level quest, and one building in Balmora. As usual it will conflict with Balmora Expanded.
Lore Accuracy - Very Good
It adds a few more items to loot primarily from daedra. You generally get one or two of either the enchantable gems or alchemical gems or perhaps a few gold pieces from most daedra creatures. They are also added to the leveled loot containers.
Personally I tend to think of the gems as being a type of "battery" keeping the magical daedra running. I encounter the gold coins mostly on scamps which, in light of Creeper's possession of 5000, makes sense to me. The scamps are money grubbers. Some might consider the availability of the gems to be overpowering. I am not bothered by it because the character is already a certain level before they even encounter daedra in the wild thus already having enough gold for the things s/he needs.
Design - Very Good
In my mind it plays to a character who tries to be non-violent. Enchantable gems allow the character to avoid carrying weapons around simply for their enchantments.
There is a note on the gem dealer's counter that starts the quest although one could stumble upon it earlier which would not "break" it. The quest itself is very simple; easy for a low level character to complete. Should you choose to sell the quest reward you could get a few hundred gold pieces.
The enchantable gems themselves range from 150 to 300 pieces of gold if my memory serves me correctly.
Technical Achievement - Good
Shop is nicely designed, items are well made and attractive. Everything works. No noticeable construction errors.
My main complaint here is the "other nice things" sold by the gem dealer. They are renamed unique items such as those you receive from each Ashlander tribe as it names you Nerevarine. The gem dealer also carries 80000 gold pieces which is easy to exploit as is Creeper and the Mudcrab. |
