Author Description:

This is a simple update on a simple plugin. The original version was released over a year ago, and was designed to assist herb-gathering characters in managing their inventories. Dedicated alchemists know that those little bundles of saltrice and marshmerrow not only clutter up your inventory screen, but quickly weigh your character down as well. This plugin provides the player with a single, portable satchel in which to carry all of his various ingredients. This keeps the inventory screen clutter-free, and provides you with access to all of your ingredients without fear of becoming over-encumbered. As an added convenience, it is possible to transfer the entire contents of the satchel to your own inventory with one button press, and to likewise return them to the satchel instantly when they are no longer needed.

This mod requires the Morrowind Script Extender (MWSE), which can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mwse
Morrowind Graphics Extender (MGE) has a version of MWSE built into it; many users prefer this since MGE is also needed for some mods and can be used to improve Morrowind's graphics. MGE can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/morrgraphext/

(Right, now I know why nobody has done a MWSE mod review yet...)

This is one of the mods on my 'standard install', that get added to every game regardless of what sort of character I'm using. I've had the chance to thoroughly test it.

Concept: Excellent
It is quite logical that someone collecting alchemy ingredients is going to have a method of storing them other than 'toss into a loaded pack and hope for the best'. Having a special bag to contain ingredients is quite logical.

Lore Accuracy: Fair
Having smaller items like flowers, animal teeth or even gems in the same small bag is quite reasonable. Including bulkier objects like hides and ore is a bit odd; this is because all alchemy ingredients are included, not just the logical ones. Items going into the bag suddenly having no weight is also a bit odd.

Design: Excellent
This mod does what it says on the tin. All ingredients from any mod go into the bag, without any significant problems. The mod doesn't try to overextend itself and is quite unobtrusive.

Attention to Detail: Fair
There is an error message upon first loading Morrowind. This is caused by an over-enthusiastic script within this mod. It causes no problems whatsoever, but it can be alarming to have it pop up the first time you use the mod. The author has instructions to fix this error message and said they were working on an update but hasn't been heard from since (this was a few years ago). The suggested repair method can lead to other errors in the mod, so it is generally better to just ignore it.

Occasionally, an item will not be transferred to the bag. This seems fairly unpredictable and it will often move fine the next time ingredients are transferred. Items with scripts seem to be slightly more prone to this. I think this is more to do with the how Morrowind runs than the scripting itself.

Other Comments:
When there are large amounts of items in the bag, there can be a lag of several seconds while they are being moved. I've even had what appeared to be a game freeze of about 7 seconds, although to be fair I did have about 900lbs of ingredients stuffed in there.

Many would consider the weight reduction a cheat. I freely admit that I'll shift ingredients into the bag to lighten my character's encumbrance, particularly in dwemer ruins with lots of heavy scrap metal or even ebony. A heavy roleplayer may prefer to manually move over the smaller items such as wickwheat and carry heavier objects like ore and hides the normal way. Personally, I find it convenient to have all my alchemy ingredients in one place and carried with me, since my characters rarely have houses they can stash stuff at.
