DOWNLOAD Wild Rare Ingredients
Author's Description :
A collection of bugfixes which address various issues regarding the availability of ingredients "in the wild".
A Brief Intro :
This is a small mod that allow players access to some of the rarest alchemical ingredients, without which the only source would be some alchemists or necromancers. Issued ingredients includes ghoul heart, daedra skin, horn lily bulb (Tribunal), holly berry (Bloodmoon) and heartwood (Bloodmoon). The mod make it so certain creatures would drop said ingredients when die and certain plants would respawning taken ingredients.
The mod come in seven different .esp files. There are .esp files which deal with individual ingredient as mentioned and there are also .esp file which are merged version of those. As mentioned by the author, Denina's Ash Ghoul Hearts mod is incorporated into this.
For those enjoying alchemy in Morrowind, rejoice ! No longer you should wait for weeks for alchemists to resupply their stock. No longer you'll have to delve into some obscure caves and tombs just to find the otherwise should be common stuffs. Indeed, now you can harvest certain ingredients from the proper creatures. Myself, I always thought an ogrim should has more skin than heart, considering its size and all. And for those without special interest in alchemy, this mod adds more value to such outdoor activities like daedra hunting or sixth house cleaning as some of the rare ingredients like ghoul hearts and daedra skins are especially valuable items. Even I know anything about heartwoods and their availability from spriggans from this mod only. |

Wild Rare Ingredients
I've been using this mod in my games for quite sometimes now. Because of its small size and simplicity, I used this mod not only in an already on-going games but for new adventures as well. If I remember correctly, I have used this mod approximately since its was released.
Concept : Excellent
Giving a simple access to the otherwise difficult to obtain ingredients (despite their mentioned being rather easy to get in Morrowind lore) is a welcome. Furthermore, this mod also takes care the respawing issue of such plant-based ingredients like horn lily bulb and holly berry, thus assuring the continual availability of every kinds of alchemical ingredients in Morrowind world. As already mentioned, this mod make certain rare ingredients available for player by harvesting them from creatures. This is even better than make them available only in alchemists stock because now players can replenish by themselves their own stock without having to be dependent to the alchemists. For those with interest in alchemy, the rare ingredients dealt in this mod also happen to have unique properties specially coveted for potion making, thus the harvesting and brewing potions would be even more worthwile.
Lore Accuracy : Superb
This mod corrects what are there already in the Morrowind lore, giving accuracy as well as new depth to it. It is not common for a mod to become so lore friendly, but I gave this rating because the mod add somethings more to the lore and game depth instead of using the already established ones.
Design : Very Good
This mod is intended as a bugfix for the original game and has done a great job being one. Furthermore, the mod comes in separate .esp files thus player can choose whether to select a fix for specific ingredient or playing with merged mods. A well afterthought that gives player options for mod that deal with separate things like this one is always a welcome (just in case someone using this not having Tribunal or Bloodmoon installed).
Note that unlike in unmodded game, now some creatures can drop more than one kind of ingredients. This is particularly interesting. If I can cut a daedra heart, why I can't skin it at the same time as well ?
Attention to Detail : Good
Despite its small size the mod has covered the whole thing as is claimed. Thus far I've not found any problems regarding this mod. A game with this mod run as well as one without and creatures dropping ingredients upon death has been done just like it should be.
Conflicts :
This mod adds many alchemical ingredients to creatures, containers and levelled lists.
Overall :
For its small size, this mod has done much and in a great way. It has become one of my favorite mod and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in mod dealing with Morrowind lore and environment. |
